What’s with a title anyway?

Someone asked me the other day do you consider yourself an accountant or a consultant?

I’m an accountant. My entire career has been in accounting. Most of my clients over the years have been accountants. On a daily basis I serve clients as their finance leader.

So what about consulting? I focus on finance effectiveness & consideration of the people, process & technology used by all size accountants & finance team. I help small & medium business more broadly too.

So do I consider myself an Accountant – sure! Or a consultant – okay! But I’m more likely to say I’m a #financeleader #CFO #businessadvisor or #connector
