A state of rebellion
This article “How Friendship Holds Women Back in Their Careers” broke my heart.
It is upsetting for two reasons
(1) it rings true
(2) it is counter to my belief and a favourite topic: connection, deep personal relationships, are at the intersection of health and longevity, success and happiness.
Not surprisingly I guess that my theory, which is well researched, is a combination of common knowledge and discoveries based primarily on one gender – damn!
But let’s wipe the tears and surge the emotions towards action. Ladies, enough is enough!
If we love and trust each other & we believe in what we are doing, in the relationships that we’ve developed & the results we have & can achieve let’s foster it all and ensure that for us too connection, deep personal relationships is at the core of success.
We master the fruits that connection bears for happiness as well as health & longevity but let’s stop stopping there.
There is no shame in self-promoting. There is no shame in asking. There is none in business development or sales or feeding the family. Let’s help each other beyond the touchy feely – let’s do it economically too.
For those who say don’t mix business with friends – well they likely aren’t living an intense life where their passions of work and family and friends and fun (& CONNECTION) intersect. That’s too bad but for the rest of us there’s no separation.
Trust a friend. Refer a friend. Hire a friend. Bring two friends together to connect.
Men too … except you already do. Celebrate that & continue (& hopefully your circle is diverse & includes all types).
